Last year I participated in the Rutgers University Dance Marathon as a freshman with my sorority Phi Sigma Sigma and it was life changing. Our campus community raised a record breaking $1 million for the Embrace Kids Foundation, an organization which supports children with cancer and blood disorders and other serious health issues, a cause close to my heart.
I knew the minute it was over, after dancing for 12 hours straight, that I would not only do it again, but that I wanted to play an even bigger role. I am proud to say that I am now a Dance Marathon Captain and I am dedicating the next 5 months to making RUDM 2018, where this year I will spend more than 24 hours on my feet, the biggest and best it can be.
I have been fortunate to spend time with these brave little fighters and their families and I've experienced first-hand what it means to them to have our community behind them.
We not only get to visit them at the hospital but we get to host them on campus and treat them to special activities like a Halloween party to boost their spirits. It all culminates in April when we dance, we laugh, we cry and most importantly, we celebrate our biggest effort to support our Embrace Kids family.
You can help us by making a contribution. I am asking friends and family to please donate. No amount is too small. Your gift, which supports the non-medical needs of these children and goes directly to the families, will truly make a difference in their lives. All donations are tax deductible.
